Ogden Valley Pathways

Letter from the chair

Dear Ogden Valley Pathways supporter,

In the spring of 2009, the OVP Board of Directors made the decision to combine its mission (to construct and maintain trails in Ogden Valley) with the mission of Weber Pathways (to construct and maintain trails in Weber County). The Boards of both organizations agree the most effective way to pursue our mission is to again join the forces of Weber and Ogden Valley Pathways. When all is said and done, Ogden Valley trails will have the focus and resources of a much larger support base, something we desperately need to realize the dreams of the Trails Master Plan.

By late August, 2009 we expect to have transferred our trail-oriented talent, knowledge and assets to Weber Pathways and be out of the trails business as an independent organization. We will soon be working through Weber Pathways and we valley residents need to rebuild our voice and presence there. If you are an Ogden Valley trails enthusiast, please treat Weber Pathways as your trails advocate and get involved. The Weber Pathways website is www.weberpathways.org and phone number is (801) 393-2304.

FYI, the Ogden Valley Pathways organization is being repurposed into the Ogden Valley Community Foundation with a mission “to improve the lives of Ogden Valley residents and visitors through philanthropic leadership.” The initial focus of OVCF is parks and recreation, but the scope also includes supporting and collaborating with “Weber Pathways, Ogden Nordic, the Ogden Valley Land Trust, Government functions like the Forest Service, Weber County Parks and Recreation, local Special Recreation District(s), and Utah State Department of Wildlife Resources, historical societies as they may be organized, and other charities in the development and maintenance of facilities which are constructed to preserve the environment, conserve natural resources, and provide use and enjoyment for the general public.”

Thanks for your past, present and future support.

Kimbal Wheatley, Chair
