Oreo Caramel Apples

Thursday April 23, 2009
Oreo Caramel Apples are caramel apples covered with a gorgeous swirl of white and dark chocolate and loaded with chunks of Oreo cookies. If you wish, you can use all white or all dark chocolate to make these apples, and you can also experiment with using other chopped cookies as apple toppings. I think dark chocolate Milanos would be fabulous, and fudge-striped shortbread sounds pretty amazing, too.

Chocolate-Dipped Cookies

Wednesday April 22, 2009
It seems a bit unnecessary to point you to this recipe for Chocolate-Dipped Cookies, since it's so simple. If you can melt chocolate in the microwave and dunk a few cookies in said chocolate, you know how to make this candy! However, you don't have to limit yourself to this basic recipe. One reviewer, who gave these cookies 5 stars, suggests using Peppermint Oreos for a delicious variation. You can also get creative with the decorations. Try topping the cookies with your favorite candies, rolling the sides in sprinkles, or even using chocolate transfer sheets to give them an elegant touch.

Oreo Peppermint Bark

Tuesday April 21, 2009
Oreo Peppermint Bark is an easy treat made with Oreo cookies, peppermint candies, and white chocolate. The crumbled cookies are topped with crushed peppermints, baked until the hard candies melt, and then white chocolate is smoothed on top. The combination of cream-filled chocolate cookies, mint, and sweet white chocolate is delicious!

Cookies and Cream Truffles

Monday April 20, 2009
Oreo cookies are already a dessert by themselves, but by combining them with a few simple ingredients, they can be transformed into two different easy, elegant candies. Oreo Truffles are the most well-known variety of Oreo candies. They're made with cookie crumbs and cream cheese and are dipped in chocolate and decorated with slivers of Oreo cookies.

However, I have an equal fondness for their relatives, Cookies and Cream Truffles. To make these, I use the same cookie crumbs, but this time they are mixed with a chocolate ganache and rolled in finely crushed cookies. The ganache intensifies the chocolate taste and gives them more of a traditional truffle texture. Both are delicious, require few ingredients, and sate my Oreo cravings...for a few hours, at least.
