In a recent discussion with a friend she shared with me that her son was graduating college with a marketing degree, but had not done an internships or landed an entry-level job. In today's economy there are many experienced marketing professionals that have been laid off and are looking to reestablish their marketing career by re-entering the workforce.

This means that those looking for entry level jobs, internships or entry level jobs will face fierce competition and companies will have to make the decision on whether to hire someone who is experienced or someone who has recently graduated. Create a Facebook Event Via Your Fan Page

Thursday April 15, 2010

Truth be told, I don't mind the Facebook changes. I realize that Facebook is on the cutting edge and that they find the need to tweak things now and again. However, there are times that they move something and it totally frustrates me, so I spend time going on a hunt to relocate that missing feature or application, sometimes I find it other times I find that it's just not available anymore.

This week I encountered just that scenario. I thought perhaps they had deleted a familiar feature...but no they just moved it!

Thanks Facebook for once again making me feel like an idiot because of a design change. Can we just keep things where they are please? Every time I get used to something you move it and I like most people get all confused.

Ok, back to the story. In a training that I was conducting I was asked how you can setup an event from your Facebook Fan Page, rather than your personal profile. As I begin to show the process I noticed that Facebook had changed the location of this feature.

Don't worry it's still there, but it's in a different place. The steps are just a tad different.

Use Talking Points to Stay Focused When Speaking to the Media or to the Public

Tuesday April 13, 2010

Are you prepping for a press conference, interview, guest column or a new website?

If so, it may just be time to develop your talking points. I'm often asked how I prepare for a speaking engagement or press interview and my biggest tip is to develop a list of talking points.

Talking points are usually created using short list that contains summaries regarding ideas and thoughts that you want to talk about. These talking points can help you when it comes to keeping focused and staying on point in order to get your message across.

Guy my contributing writer has created a couple of fantastic resources that will help you. He shows you not only how to write your talking points, but he also shows you how to use your talking points with success.

If you have not used talking points before, give it a shot. I think, you'll find that they do help to keep you on point as well as give you confidence when preparing yourself for an event that involves not only media, but the public.
