Mafia II poses an interesting problem for players. It tells a decent story filled with fascinating characters that you'll want to see through to the end, but the gameplay is surprisingly boring. When you can just sit back and watch it is fairly entertaining, but when you actually have to play it Mafia II is rather dull. And that is generally a bad trait for a videogame. Wrapping up Microsoft's Summer of Arcade 2010 is the fifth and final entry, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. This isn't a normal Tomb Raider adventure - hence the "Lara Croft" title instead of "Tomb Raider" - but may actually be something better. Guardian of Light is a well-paced blend of twin stick shooter-style combat, rewarding exploration, multi-layered puzzle solving, and light platforming all wrapped in lush visuals with a great co-op focus. For gamers that thought LIMBO was a bit too artsy-fartsy, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light may just be the best game from the 2010 Summer of Arcade.

The fourth week of the Summer of Arcade 2010 on Xbox Live Arcade brought us Monday Night Combat. Initially, the concept seemed a little goofy - an over the top third-person-shooter game show - but the execution is beyond anything we could have hoped for. This isn't just yet another shooter.
