International Student Stats
As of the spring 2010 semester, the School of Continuing Studies hosts approximately 140 non-U.S. citizen and international students. We attract students from every continent, excluding Antarctica. The top 10 countries of origin among our international student population are as follows:

Admissions Requirements

• Application
• Letters of recommendation (the number of letters of recommendation required depends on the program)
• Essays (the number of essays required depends on the program)
• Test of English as a Foreign Language score
• Transcripts from previous institutions
• Minimum GPA for masters or doctorate programs is 3.00 (solid “B” average)

Office of International Programs
The Office of International Programs works closely with non-U.S. citizen students to ensure the proper completion of all immigration paperwork. All incoming students who are not U.S. citizens are required to complete the International Student Immigration Questionnaire. This document provides the Office with important information and helps determine whether visa support can be obtained through Georgetown. This completed form and all supporting documentation should be submitted to the Office before any non-U.S. citizen begins his or her studies at Georgetown.
Please note that admission into an academic program does not guarantee conferral of a visa through the Office of International Programs, and only full-time students formally admitted to degree programs in the School of Continuing Studies are eligible for visa consideration. Full-time status for graduate students is defined as 9 credit hours in fall/spring semesters and 6 credit hours in summer. At this time, the Office does not provide visa support to undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies students.

Student Resources

• Writing Center
  Students may request a tutor to help guide writing assignments and improve overall writing skills.
• Academic Resource Center (ARC)
  Provides accommodations for disability or academic support services.
• Student Counseling Center (CAPS)
  Students come to CAPS when they experience life events or academic pressures that leave them feeling anxious, confused, lonely, angry, depressed or overwhelmed. This service department addresses students’ mental and emotional needs.
