McMaster provides the following theme floors/houses to enhance and extend your learning experience outside of the classroom and into your residence home. Please note that these choices are available in selected buildings only.


Edwards Hall International House

Provides a lifestyle enhanced by a mosaic of cultures from all over the world. Its unique programming broadens you residence experience with dinners, coffeehouses, the celebrated World Tour, and other social and educational events. International House is a comfortable and friendly living environment that opens your eyes to the world.

La Maison Francaise

Provides a unique opportunity to improve your language skills by speaking French on a daily basis, and for gaining a better understanding of French culture within a close-knit community. Students with any level of French language proficiency are welcome. Vivre l'experience francais!

Matthews Hall Halcyon House

A residence environment specifically for those students seeking a greater commitment to noise reduction. While quiet hours are observed in each residence, and quiet floors are available, Halcyon House is suited for students committed to living in a community with greater restrictions on noise. If you value a quieter lifestyle, than Halcyon House is the cod-ed residence for you.

Wellness House

Active students are offered the opportunity to supplement their academic studies with recreational and physical activities with an emphasis on fitness of the body and mind. Programming topics will focus on maintaining a healthy balance between work and play in the university environment.

Brandon Hall Substance-Free Wing

A welcoming space for students who wish to live in a substance-free community. Residents will enjoy the usual social and academic activities such as movie nights, study sessions, intramural and much more.

Wallingford Hall
Moulton Hall

All Female

McMaster offers an all-female living environment in Wallingford Hall. Additionally, the 3rd and 4th floor of Moulton Hall are also used as female-only.


McMaster University strives to provide an environment in residence where students can achieve their academic goals by implementing regular quiet hours. Additionally, quiet floors are also available based on demand. These floors offer an increased number of daily quiet hours as agreed to by students living on the floor.
