The Google Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information when you use Google services, including information provided when you use Google App Engine. In addition, the following describes privacy practices specific to Google App Engine.

Personal Information

  • Developer account activity. You need a Google Account to develop an application using Google App Engine. Google asks for some personal information when you create a Google Account, including your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access. Google's servers automatically record certain information about your use of Google App Engine. Similar to other web services, Google records information such as account activity (e.g., storage usage, number of log-ins, actions taken), data displayed or clicked on (e.g., UI elements, links), and other log information (e.g., browser type, IP address, date and time of access, cookie ID, referrer URL). If you incur charges in excess of the "Fee Threshold," information related to the billing of those charges will be handled in accordance with the Google Checkout Privacy Policy.
  • User account activity. Users of Google App Engine applications may need a Google Account. Google asks for some personal information when you create a Google Account, including your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access. Google's servers automatically record certain information about your use of applications developed using Google App Engine. Similar to other web services, Google records information such as account activity (e.g., storage usage, number of log-ins, actions taken, frequency and size of data transfers), data displayed or clicked on (e.g., UI elements, links), and other log information (e.g., browser type, IP address, date and time of access, cookie ID, referrer URL). If the Google App Engine application provides "chat" functionality through the XMPP protocol, the contacts you communicate with may be recorded, but this information will be deleted on a regular basis. Google will not record the contents of your messages, although the developer of the App Engine application may do so.
  • User account information and content. Developers of Google App Engine applications may expose Google Account user names to other users of the application if they so choose. If the Google App Engine application provides "chat" functionality through the XMPP protocol, people in your contact list may be able to see your online presence, user name, or copy and paste or otherwise manually record your "chats" if the developer of the application enables such functionality in the Google App Engine application.
  • Developer collection, use and access to user's information and content. A developer of a Google App Engine application may also store and have access to user content or other user information, including user communications. Users should review the privacy policies provided by the developer of the Google App Engine applications that they use to determine what information the developer collects and how it is used and what information third parties can see. Google does not control the collection or use of such information by the developer.
  • Developer Content. Google App Engine stores and processes your application source code and content in order to provide the service to you.

Uses

We use this information internally to deliver the best possible service to you, such as improving the Google App Engine user interface and maintaining a consistent and reliable user experience.

Your Choices

You may terminate your use of Google App Engine at any time.
