The Role
The Bloomberg credit derivatives group supports the core credit software product we provide to our clients. This product covers a broad range of applications, from credit default swap (CDS) price charting and market overview screens to sophisticated analytics leveraging complex pricing models. We currently maintain the market standard CDS calculator and provide screens assisting users in hedging credit and interest rate risk. We work closely with the Bloomberg trading systems group to provide clients with the ability to execute, book and track profit and loss on CDS deals.

The credit markets have gone through dramatic changes in the last few years as we experienced a worldwide credit crunch and ensuing recession. We spend a significant amount of time anticipating and responding to changes in the markets, and in particular increasing standardization and transparency. The CDS market is likely to be one of the most dynamic well into the future and Bloomberg is dedicated to providing the best functionality and information to our users in this market.

This position is for working as an application developer in the Credit R&D; group. It is a very fast-paced, exciting work environment focused on time-to-market and reliable, high performance software systems. The code base is composed primarily of C and C++. Developers contribute to all phases of software engineering ranging from requirements development, design and architecture, implementation, testing, release and ongoing maintenance. Candidates should exhibit strategic thinking, an aggressive drive, and an aptitude for engineering quality software along with great communication and teamwork skills. Interest in developing financial applications is a must. Knowledge of Fixed Income and Credit markets is highly valued but not required.

Qualifications:
- 2+ years of software development experience in C/C++
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Experience with and/or interest in full software development lifecycle activities: requirements management, technical design, implementation, testing/release
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with enhancing and maintaining mission-critical software in a fast-paced environment
- Fixed Income and Credit knowledge is a plus but not necessary
