Undergraduate Program

The undergraduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers a comprehensive education that leads to a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S). The program provides pre-professional background for students interested in pursuing a career in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. Courses focus on normal communication development, the anatomy and physiology of the speech mechanism, the acoustics of speech, phonetics, and an introduction to audiology and speech-language disorders. Students interested in this major should have a good background in biology and enjoy working with people.

The bachelor’s degree is pre-professional and, therefore, preparatory to various graduate professional degrees in the clinical sciences. The master’s degree (M.S.) is the minimal, entry-level requirement to obtain full licensure in speech-language pathology or audiology (State of Oklahoma) and national certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
