Bring the Family

Reunion Weekend is a wonderful opportunity for alumni to introduce their families to the Georgetown community and to their classmates. Many events are informal and family-friendly. This year, events designed for Hoya kids include a storytime, art workshop, sports clinics, hands-on science experiments and the all-class procession. Activities for teens and “tweens” include a Georgetown admissions information session and tour, and a cooking class followed by a bus tour of Washington monuments on Saturday night. Look for the symbol  throughout the schedule of events for family-friendly events (suggested ages are listed where applicable.).

Be sure to stop by registration to pick up a children’s activity book that includes a campus scavenger hunt, coloring pages and puzzles.

Motherhood Room
As a service for nursing mothers, rooms will be provided in Alumni House and the Intercultural Center for mothers to take a break from reunion activities in privacy. Additionally, changing stations will be set up for parents’ convenience.

We’ve also made attending your reunion easier by suggesting the following child care options:

  • Kids’ Soirees. Professional child care providers will offer a Kids’ Soiree on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to midnight. The soirees are high-energy and entertaining for children ages 5 – 12 and include activities such as board and video games, arts and crafts, movies, snacks and dinner. Specially-trained counselors provide care at a 8:1 child to adult ratio. Kids’ Soirees will be held in Riverside Lounge in New South. The cost is $50 per child per night for early registration, $60 for regular registration. Space is limited, so please register by May 7. Please make sure to note the age(s) of your child(ren) on your registration.
  • White House Nannies. Our child care provider may also be able to provide licensed baby-sitters for your specific needs during the weekend. To book a baby-sitter through their services, please call (301) 652-8088 and reference the Georgetown Reunion.
  • Hotel Referrals. Many hotels offer babysitting referrals. Please check the Accommodations page for a list of individual hotels and contact them directly to find out about specific offerings.
  • Personal Referrals. Don’t forget to utilize your local classmates for recommendations or to organize baby-sitters for groups. Your class’ Facebook page can be a great resource for finding a child care provider.
  • Student Employment Office. The Student Employment Office serves as a clearinghouse for students available for babysitting positions, but it is not a direct matching service. To employ child care services from Georgetown students, go to http://seo.georgetown.edu, click on “Off Campus Employers,” then click on “Post a Job,” and complete the required information. We recommend you post your request at least one week in advance. Please call (202) 687-4187 for more information.
