Reunion Giving

Another great way you can participate in your class's anniversary is by making a reunion gift. Approximately $57.5 million was raised in total gifts from classes celebrating their undergraduate reunion in 2009. During the weekend, undergraduate classes receive recognition for their reunion achievements:

  • The class with the largest gift since their last reunion is awarded the Blue-Gray Cup.
  • The class with the highest percentage of donors during the reunion year is awarded the President's Cup.
  • The class with the highest percentage of classmates returning for reunion is awarded the Reunion Cup.
  • NEW: The class with the highest percentage of alumni who have given continuously since last reunion is awarded the Loyalty Cup. Be the first class to be honored for this accomplishment!

Missed a year-or several? You can buy it back through our special Buyback Program for reunion-year alumni only. For example, if you made a gift to any area of Georgetown in two of the last five fiscal years (July 1-June 30), you can buy back the three fiscal years you missed for $25 each.

In addition to helping your class win the Loyalty Cup, five years of consecutive giving qualifies you as a Milestone member of the new Georgetown University Loyalty Society—our way of saying thank you to our most steadfast supporters.  To learn more, click here or call 800-424-2795.

  • NEW: The class with the highest percentage of alumni who are members of the Legacy Society is awarded the Legacy Cup. Be the first class to be honored for this accomplishment!  To become a Legacy Society member or talk with a Gift Planning representative, email giftplanning@georgetown.edu

Support the 1789 Scholarship Imperative

Georgetown is dedicated to attracting and enrolling the most highly qualified young people, who create the intellectually stimulating, dynamic campus community which you remember from your years on the Hilltop. Today, Georgetown’s capacity to continue to fulfill its mission – to its students and to the world – requires a significant and sustained new commitment to undergraduate scholarships. Keeping Georgetown accessible and affordable for all students who merit admission, especially in a time of financial strain, is the university’s No. 1 priority. This year, nearly half of current undergraduates demonstrated the need for a scholarship to attend Georgetown, at a total cost of $70.6 million.

To meet this challenge, in fall 2009, Georgetown launched an important new effort: the 1789 Scholarship Imperative. Our goal is to raise $500 million in scholarship support by 2014 for the Georgetown Scholarship Program. Gifts of any size to the 1789 Scholarship Imperative will fund needed scholarships counted in increments of $25,000, which is the average need-based scholarship award one student receives each year.

We hope we can count on your support of this important effort – your contribution will count towards your reunion class gift totals. You can donate to the 1789 Scholarship Imperative when registering for the weekend online or on the enclosed form.
