Health & Welfare Benefits

Overview

The following health and welfare benefit plans are available to current Georgetown University faculty, staff (including those represented by Allied International Union) and AAPs.  Benefits eligibility varies from plan to plan.  Click on the links below to see detailed plan information.

Medical Insurance
Georgetown University offers a selection of medical plans. Find information about Georgetown-sponsored medical plans, eligibility, enrolling and making changes, plus links to medical plan carriers' websites.

Dental Insurance
Georgetown offers three dental insurance plans to help you maintain good dental health. Information about the dental insurance plans, your and your family's eligibility for dental insurance, and enrolling in a dental plan are provided here.

Vision Insurance
Georgetown offers a comprehensive, employee-paid vision care benefit provided by EyeMed Vision care. Information about the plan, your eligibility and enrollment is available.

Flexible Spending Accounts
The Health Care (HCRA) and Dependent Care (DCRA) Reimbursement Accounts allow you to pay on a pretax, salary reduction basis for eligible health care expenses not covered by your medical, dental, or vision plans and eligible dependent care expenses. Colonial HealthCare, Inc. administers the program on Georgetown's behalf.

Life Insurance
Georgetown provides life insurance at no cost for most employees. Additional insurance for you and your family members is available for a monthly premium.

Disability Insurance
Georgetown automatically enrolls eligible employees in short term and long term disability coverage.  These plans, administered by Matrix Absence Management, are designed to replace a portion of your income if you are unable to work due to illness or injury.  Georgetown pays the entire cost of short term disability (or salary continuance for academic employees); long term disability premiums are deducted from your pay on an after-tax basis.

Long Term Care Insurance
The Georgetown long term care (LTC) plan allows you to purchase individual policies through the Todd Benefits Group at a special group discount.
