The Georgetown College Dean's Office serves as the central academic office for all undergraduate students. The Dean's Office is located in 303 Intercultural Center (ICC) and
108 White-Gravenor (WGR).
First and second year students report to the Intercultural Center office and junior and senior students report to the White-Gravenor office. The deans and academic counselors give direct academic support to students by providing guidance on their class schedules, majors, and degree requirements. They also monitor the academic performance of all students. Because regular communication with the faculty is essential to their guidance of students, the deans and counselors frequently email faculty directly about specific students and ask for assessments of the student's performance. In addition to providing academic advice to students, the Dean's Office also participates in the planning for
Parents' Weekend,
New Student Orientation, and
Commencement. Faculty are encouraged to contact members of the dean's office staff with any concerns about student performance, class attendance, behaviors which might suggest a students is in distress, or any number of other matters. Students are frequently referred to the appropriate support services as a result of these faculty contacts. The deans are equipped to guide faculty through administrative procedures and assist them in resolving many matters related to student performance.
