Membership Eligibility and Terms:

The Yates Memorial Field House was built for the recreational use of Georgetown University students, faculty, staff, Medstar employees, alumni and their families. Membership categories are determined by one’s primary affiliation with the University. Individuals and families not affiliated with the University may join Yates as “Friends” members.

For membership purposes, the family is defined as the base member plus spouse or legal dependent 21 or younger. Additional dependents, 21 years of age or younger, are eligible to be added, for a fee (children 4 and under may be added at no charge). In order to take advantage of the family membership plan, proof of family relationship will be necessary. Full-time students 22 years old or younger may remain on their parent’s membership.

Memberships at Yates require a one year commitment, and are non refundable and nontransferable. Payment may be made by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, or American Express. A payroll deduction plan is available as a convenience to full time University and Georgetown Medstar employees. ID cards are individually issued and are non transferable. Faculty, staff and student members use University ID cards. Memberships that are ended prematurely will result in a penalty equal to three (3) months of applicable dues at Yates.

For your own safety you should always consult your physician before entering into a strenuous conditioning program.

Membership Types:

Students: All full-time Georgetown students pay a mandated Yates fee each semester, and are automatically members. Full-time status is determined by the number of credit hours for which a student is enrolled during the specific semester. For undergraduates 12 credits or more is full-time. For graduate students, 9 credits or more is full-time.

Any Georgetown student who falls outside these credit limits may pay the same fee that mandated students are charged and become members. The fee can be paid in the main office of The Yates Field House by cash, check, charge card, Gocard, or by having us bill your student account. Student membership fees per semester are as follows:

Single $160/semester

Family $220/semester (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $15/semester for each additional dependent

Faculty and Staff: All Georgetown University faculty and staff are eligible and welcome to join Yates. Payment can be made through payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card. To join Yates, come to the main office of the Field House and bring your GU ID card. Faculty and Staff membership fees are as follows:

Single $444/year

Family $648/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $72/year for each additional dependent

Medstar: All Georgetown University Medstar employees are eligible and welcome to join Yates. Payment can be made through payroll deduction, cash, check or credit card. To join Yates, come to the main office of the Field House and bring your Medstar badge along with your Lawson ID number or GU ID. Georgetown University Medstar membership fees are as follows:

Single $612/year

Family $861/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $90/year for each additional dependent

Medstar Resident membership rates as follows:

Single $420/year

Family $600/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $60/year for each additional dependent

Alumni: All Georgetown alumnae and alumni are eligible and welcome to join Yates. In addition to the health benefits, it is a great way to stay in touch with the University.  There are never any initiation fees. Membership rates for "Young Alumni" (within five years of their undergraduate Georgetown degree) are as follows:

Single $580/year

Family $820/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $80/year for each additional dependent

Memberships rates for all other alumni are as follows:

Single $774/year

Family $1106/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $100/year for each additional dependent 

Friends: As noted above, Yates also offers memberships for area community members.  There are no initiation fees. These "Friend Of Georgetown" memberships rates are as follows:

Single $996/year

Family $1476/year (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $100/year for each additional dependent

Visiting Students: Full-time students from other institutions are eligible and welcome to join Yates. Visiting student membership are paid by the semester. Payments can be made using cash, check or credit card. To join Yates, come to the main office of the Field House and bring your valid ID from the institution that you are currently attending along with proof of full-time status. Visiting Student membership fees are as follows:

Single $250/semester

Family $315/semester (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $20/semester for each additional dependent  

Short Term Monthly: Monthly memberships are available for those who do not wish to commit to an annual membership contract. Payments can be made using cash, check or credit card. There are no initiation fees. Monthly membership rates are as follows:

Single $175/month

Family $245/month (Primary + 1 family member)

Add $25/month for each additional dependent

We are happy to give tours of the Field House.

Guest Policy:

Georgetown University grants Yates Field House members the privilege of bringing guests into the Field House. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests and must accompany their guest at all times when using the Field house facilities. A member’s failure to accept this responsibility will lead to suspension or revocation of membership privileges. For security reasons all guests must present a photo ID before being allowed into the building.

Guest fees are $5 for guests of students and $10 for guests of non-student members. The following restrictions apply:

Members who wish to bring in a guest must obtain a guest pass in the Main Office, or by phone, at 687-2400, during normal Main Office hours of operation. Members may purchase up to 5 guest passes in advance, which they may use at any time, with a maximum of 3 guests per visit. All guess entering the Field House must have a guest pass. This pass in hand policy will be strictly enforced.

Members may bring in a maximum of 3 guests per day. Members must be 15 years of age to bring in a guest. Members cannot bring in as their guests any type of private instructor. Guest fees are entrance fees and do not include, locks, towels or other amenities. Guests are encouraged to bring a lock to use on any available day locker. To control overcrowding, Yates management reserves the right to limit the number of passes available each day.

Law students may bring in up to 3 guests for general usage without advance purchase guest passes. These guests are responsible for paying the $5 guest fee at the front desk.

Alumni, visiting from outside the D.C. metropolitan area (DC and the contiguous Maryland and Virginia counties), can use Yates by presenting a GU alumni card, and paying the $10 guest fee. These “Out of Town” alumni visitors may bring in up to 3 guests for general usage at a fee of $10 each. Alumni who live in the D.C. metropolitan area may purchase yearly memberships.

For your protection, please do not bring in, as your guests, individuals who are loitering outside Yates.
