Alumni House

The Robert and Bernice Wagner Alumni House is named for Robert (F'48) and Bernice Wagner in recognition of their leadership gift to the complete renovation of the house, which reopened in October 2005. The house is located one block east of the campus's Healy Gates.

Alumni House is not only a welcoming 'home away from home' for all alumni to connect with each other or browse through Georgetown memorabilia, it is equipped to host campus special events such as Homecoming, Reunion, faculty lectures, and career network programs.

A Home for All Georgetown Alumni

The Georgetown University Alumni Association made its first headquarters in two townhouses at 36th and O streets in 1947. Four years later, the university added three adjoining townhouses and officially dedicated them as Alumni House. Nearly 50 years later, in 2004, a roof-to-basement renovation was overdue to bring Alumni House --by then five townhouses-into the 21st century. The $7.5 million construction project included digging out the ground floor to add space and installing steel supports to the 150-year-old historic structures.

The 'new' Alumni House includes a library, a gallery for art display, and a winter garden room for Georgetown University mission-related lectures and receptions. A business center with Internet access helps alumni traveling in the area to keep up with life back at home. The founders wall in the winter garden room features caricatures of alumni who have made leadership gifts to the renovation. Granite pavers and red bricks with commemorative messages complete the Winter Garden room and the adjoining courtyard.
