BioTechnology Forging the Way for Systems Medicine

Please join us for a panel and networking event bringing together Georgetown University alumni, faculty, staff, and friends working in the biotechnology sector on June 23, 2010 from 7-9pm in North Bethesda, Maryland, the heart of the I-270 Technology Corridor. A panel discussion will include Georgetown University Medical Center and Law Center faculty thought leaders along side notable alumni working in the biotechnology sector to discuss the relationship between biotechnology and personalized medicine, taking into consideration science, policy, and ethical issues. The work and initiatives of the Georgetown University O'Neill Institute for National and Global Heath Law and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics will also be highlighted. Founders' Day 2010

Approximately 200 Georgetown School of Medicine alumni, faculty, and friends gathered at the Washington Golf and Country Club on Sunday evening, April 25, 2010, for the Ninth Annual Founders’ Day Celebration. The event honors outstanding members of the Medical School community, with all proceeds supporting the School of Medicine Scholarship Fund. This year, Dr. Stephen Ray Mitchell (W’86), Dr. Oscar Mann (M’62, R’65, F’66), and Dr. John Lynch (M’73, R’79) were awarded the coveted Founders’ Day Medal for their service to teaching and medicine. Reunion 2009 a Resounding Success

The 2009 Georgetown University Medical Center Reunion had the event’s best attendance ever. The Georgetown University Alumni Association hosted the weekend, which honored the School of Medicine classes of 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004. Read more »

The Dinner with a Doc series organized by the Medical Students Alumni Ambassadors club under the direction of the Medical and Dental Alumni program office was very successful during the 2009 school year. The Georgetown University Alumni Association honored the incoming Medical School Class of 2013 at the 33rd Annual Welcome Reception held at the Robert F. (F’48) and Bernice Wagner Alumni House on August 6. The reception was featured as a part of the Orientation Week celebration program, giving the students a chance to get to know the Alumni Association and the Medical Student Alumni Ambassadors (MSAA). Med Students Attend Televised Health Care Forum with President Obama

In late June, five Georgetown Medical School students - Erica Adams, J. Ryan Macdonell, Joseph Murray, Ian Tuznik and Mary Vigil - got the opportunity to interact with President Barack Obama during an episode of Primetime on ABC moderated by Charles Gibson and Diane Sawyer. The students also delivered a letter for Obama written by the school's student body president, Claiborne Childs. Read the letter »

100% Gift Participation for School of Medicine Class of 2009

For an unprecedented second year in a row, Georgetown University School of Medicine students have reached 100 percent participation in their fourth-year class gift. The Class of 2009 raised more than $4,600, surpassing their goal. Read more »

A Successful Start for the MATCH Program
