Welcome to Faculty and Staff Assistance Program's Wellness Programs. As a part of the Human Resources team our mission is to provide wellness services to the Georgetown Community. Most of us spend our waking hours at work; very few have the opportunity to learn about something new before the week's favorite topic is lost! Research shows that employees who participate in wellness programs are more productive and satisfied at work, employee morale is improved, and the existence of support services like wellness programs reduce overall organizational costs.
Facilitated and coordinated by Wellness Counselor, Sue Johnston, the wellness programs vary from weekly meditations at different locations on and off-campus, bi-monthly wellness presentations to seasonal classes designed for personal development. What are the benefits of attending Wellness Programs?
- Cost Savings: In addition to financial planning seminars, implementing health care strategies suggested by health and fitness specialists may help reduce your overall medical costs in the long run.
- Reduced Stress and Anxiety: We now know that nutrition and fitness, work satisfaction, family life, and physical and emotional health issues all affect one another. Learning healthier lifestyles reduces the strain on the body, mind and spirit.
- Improved Work Performance: Research indicates that healthy employees do better work, are happier in their jobs, and are more able to adapt to changes and meet new challenges. Wellness programs on career issues are but one way to begin growing.
-
Improved Interpersonal Relationships: Our health very much affects our mood and spirit. Imporving mental, emotional, physical and/or spiritual health improves our lives in general. This helps to balance work/life issues.
