What the Career Education Center Can Do For You

INDIVIDUAL APPOINTMENTS

CAREER COUNSELING APPOINTMENTS

Whether you are certain of your academic major and career goals, or uncertain about what to do next, a 50-minute personal career counseling session may be for you. Our career counselors will help you explore your values, interests, skills, personality, and additional influences. Several career assessments are available to help you through the self-reflection process, such as the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. A career counselor will interpret your assessment results and discuss how the results help you identify career options.

We will also help you plan a job search strategy and address other concerns associated with the job search process, such as résumé writing, interviewing, and networking.

To learn more about career counseling or schedule a session, visit the Career Education Center reception desk.

EMPLOYMENT ADVISING APPOINTMENTS

If you know what career field you want to pursue, make an appointment for a 30-minute Employment Advising session. Our employment advisors are available to discuss specific search strategies for full-time or internship opportunities in a wide variety of industries, including education, government, advertising, and many more. To schedule an Employment Advising appointment, come to the Career Education Center and speak to someone at the front desk.

PRE-LAW ADVISING

Interested in law school or legal work? Discuss your options with our pre-law advisor, who can help you create a list of possible schools, review résumés and personal statements, and guide you through the application process.

WALK-IN APPOINTMENTS

A 15-minute walk-in consultation is an opportunity to address career-related topics in a brief period of time. For example, during a walk-in, you can have your résumé or cover letter reviewed or discuss how to begin your job or internship search. You can also use a walk-in appointment as an introduction to the Career Education Center's services.
