About the BBC Food redesign

It's been a long time coming, but we're finally making some changes to the site that we hope you'll enjoy. The process of improving the site is far from over, with more new features to be unveiled in the coming months. But we thought we'd get the basic functions out there as soon as we could so that you can play around and give us your feedback.

Most of the changes and features have been made in response to requests we've received from you.

If you would like to request more changes or comment on the site, please feel free to contact us.

Using the improved BBC Food recipe search allows you to sort through more than 12,000 recipes from your favourite BBC programmes. We've added:

- the ability to filter search results according to programmes or chefs you like (or dislike)

- the ability to filter search results to match your dietary requirements

If you're looking for a recipe you've seen on the latest episode of your favourite show, we now have a page showing just this. On this page, you'll see a list of programmes that have been on TV recently with links to view the recipes from each programme.

You can get to this page from the Food homepage or by clicking here.

Did we mention we have more than 12,000 recipes? That's a lot of pictures to take, but we're trying to add more as we go along. For now we have added pictures of popular dishes and recipes.

The links at the bottom of each page connect you to recipes from a particular chef or programme. We'll soon be adding other helpful navigation tools, such as links from recipes to information about unfamiliar ingredients. You'll also be able to bookmark recipes for quick access to firm favourites. We'll unveil these new tools as soon as we can.

We'll be adding to this section as you send us more questions.

If you're heading to the shops to pick up the ingredients for a recipe, you can now create a shopping list on your handset using the BBC Food site. Use the list to check off items once you've put them in your basket. We'll be adding improved shopping list features in the future to allow you to customise your list.

Unfortunately, we can't give out the personal details of BBC chefs. Our chef biogs pages tell you more about your favourite chefs and include links to the chefs' own website (if they have one).

You can find the chef biog pages on a computer at bbc.co.uk/food/chef_biogs/

If you have an idea for a programme, you can submit it via the BBC Commissioning website at bbc.co.uk/commissioning/ on a computer.

Unfortunately, we can't give any information about the brands of food or cookware used by BBC chefs, or their suppliers, nor can we make recommendations. If you've seen something on Ready Steady Cook you can contact the producers directly: email readysteadycook@endemoluk.com.

Unfortunately, BBC Food is unable to provide all of the recipes that you see on television programmes. If you can't find the dish you're looking for in our recipe search then we're unlikely to have the rights to it.

Feel free to contact us if there is anything you particularly like or dislike about the site or if you have any suggestions on how we might be able to improve it. We welcome any feedback about our site. However, please note that we cannot respond to all feedback received.
