U.S. News Ranks Georgetown No. 21
Georgetown moved up two spots to No. 21 among national universities in the 2011 “America’s Best Colleges” list published annually by U.S. News & World Report.

In addition to moving up in the general category, the university rose in the category of high school counselor rankings – from No. 9 to No. 6, and did well in several specialty areas, including a rise from No. 21 to No. 19 for the McDonough School of Business.

Georgetown has appeared among U.S. News’ top 25 universities for 21 consecutive years and held the No. 23 ranking for the past five years.

“Georgetown is pleased that we maintained strong rankings for our undergraduate programs and especially appreciate the input of high school counselors in this effort,” said Georgetown President John J. DeGioia.

More Specialty Rankings

Georgetown retained its No. 24 ranking among national universities in the “Great Schools at Great Prices” categories, and the magazine recognized Georgetown’s study-abroad program as an exemplary model for the ninth year in a row.

The magazine also placed Georgetown in the top 25 universities for economic diversity, a ranking that is tied to how many students receive Pell Grants.

U.S. News’ rankings are based on data sets, including academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, class size, selectivity, financial aid, alumni giving and faculty resources.

The America's Best Colleges issue hits newsstands Aug. 31.
