Simple search Back   Print   Close

A simple search can be used to collect observations during a selected period for all available series within an interest rate or exchange rate group. By clicking on a heading in the menu on the left at www.riksbank.com/statistics/interest & exchange rates you can select a group from the time series available. The following menu alternatives and groups lead to Simple search:

Use the function Advanced search för att lägga till ytterligare sökvillkor.

Use the function Advanced search of interest rates and exchange rates in the menu on the left to combine interest rate series with exchange rate series.

Instructions

  • Fill in the required date in the box marked “From”.

This date marks the first date in the selected time period. The grey letters yyyy-mm-dd indicate how the date should be written. Years should be written using four figures, followed by a hyphen, months should be written with two figures followed by a hyphen and then the day with two figures.
    For instance "2005-09-01”.

  • Fill in the required date in the box marked “To”.

This date marks the last date in the selected time period.
    For instance “2005-09-25”.

  • Select whether the result of the search should show daily observations, weekly averages, monthly averages, quarterly averages or annual averages. It is only possible to select one result alternative at a time. The system will automatically select daily observations if no other choice is made.

Please note that when selecting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual averages, the calculation is only based on whole weeks (Monday-Sunday) and complete time periods.

The selected time period in the example above (2005-09-01 – 2005-09-25) will therefore not show any values in the results if you select monthly, quarterly or annual averages, as neither the month of September, the third quarter nor the year 2005 are complete periods within this time scale.

When weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual average is selected, the display will show not only the average value for the period, but also the lowest listing (Min) and highest listing (Max). When monthly average is selected, the final listing for the month is also shown (Ultimo).

  • Select the character for the “Decimal separator”.

This indicates how the decimals in the result figures will be separated. When the search page opens, it indicates the decimal separator that applies for the computer’s web browser. It is rarely necessary to change the suggested decimal separator. Comma as decimal separator will give “1,5432”. Full stop as decimal separator will give “1.5432”.

  • Click on “Search” to fetch the data.

The result of a simple search will be displayed in an Excel file. In addition to observations of interest rate or exchange rate series, the Excel file also contains a footnote. The footnote is described in a separate section.

Please note that in the section Frequently Asked Questions in the left-hand menu there are suggestions for measures that can be taken if the search does not show the desired result.

HTML

When you have clicked on “Search” the result will be shown in a new window formatted as a table.

This page can easily be printed.

In addition to observations of interest rate or exchange rate series, the HTML file also contains a footnote. The footnote is described in a separate section.

Excel table

The actual format for the file is a tab-separated text file with the file ending (.xls).

The file can be saved at a selected location in the user’s own computer environment.

The result always shows all selected groups or series during the selected time period, even if the database lacks values for the series.

In addition to observations of interest rate or exchange rate series, the Excel table also contains a footnote. The footnote is described in a separate section.

Footnote

The footnote shows information on all series included in the search and is attached in the presentation format HTML and Excel table.

The first line of the footnote shows the Riksbank’s designation for the series, for instance SE GVB 2Y. The date in brackets shows the period during which there are observations for this series, for example (1987-01-07 -). If there is no final date in the brackets, the series is open. This means that it is usually updated with a new listing every day.

The second line of the footnote describes the series, for instance government bond with 2-year duration.

The third line states the original source of the series, for example Reuters.

CSV file

The CSV file is intended to function as a basis for further analysis of data and the result is in the form of a list.

When you have clicked on “Search" the file should be saved and then opened in Excel. It is also possible to open the file in the text-editing program of your choice.

The CSV file has the character set as PC/Windows (ANSI).

When the search page opens, it indicates the decimal separator that applies for the computer’s web browser. It is rarely necessary to change the suggested decimal separator. However, it is possible to select which combination of decimal and column separator the CSV file should have:

Text file

The actual format for the file is a tab-separated text file with the file ending (.xls).

The text file is intended to function as a basis for further analysis of data and the result is in the form of a list.

It is possible to select whether the file should be opened in the standard program for files with this file ending (.txt), or whether the file should be saved in the user’s own environment.

The text file has the same character set as PC/Windows (ANSI).

When the search page opens, it indicates the decimal separator that applies for the computer’s web browser. It is rarely necessary to change the suggested decimal separator.
