Los Angeles/New York - Troubled Hollywood star Lindsay
Lohan, 24, was free again Saturday after once again evading prison,
but the price tag was high - 300,000 dollars bail.
After spending just 15 hours in jail Friday for failing a recent
drug test, she was released after an appeals judge overruled a lower
judge's decision that she must spend 30 days in jail.
She left the California jail using a back door around midnight,
and disappeared into the night in a car, the Los Angeles Times
reported. The newspaper said it was unusual that one judge would
reverse the decision by another judge in such quick succession.
On her way to her brief jail visit before bail was posted, Lohan
was led out in handcuffs from Los Angeles Superior Court after a
brief hearing in front of the judge in charge of her case, Elden Fox.
Just hours later, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia
Schnegg ruled that Lohan could leave jail if she posted 300,000
dollars in bail, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Lohan announced on her Twitter account last week that she had
failed her latest drug test.
'Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test, and, if
I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a
result,' the actress tweeted.
Known for her roles in movies like Freaky Friday and The Parent
Trap, Lohan was recently released on probation after serving fewer
than two weeks of a 90-day jail sentence for parole violations
stemming from drunk-driving offences. The reason she was let go was
overcrowding in the prison. She also spent a court-ordered three-week
stint in a rehabilitation clinic.
Her current probation requires her to stay clean of alcohol and
illegal drugs.
