NEW DELHI - Canada's athletes will march in Sunday's opening ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games, but only after organizers satisfied some concerns expressed by Canadian officials.
Andrew Pipe, president of Commonwealth Games Canada, says there were worries about athletes being forced to stand in the sun without adequate shade, water or bathroom facilities while waiting for the ceremonies to begin.
There also were concerns athletes would not be able to leave the ceremonies early.
Pipe says Games organizers have promised to satisfy the Canadian concerns.
Still, only about 150 members of the 400-strong Canadian contingent will march in the opening ceremonies.
The Games have been plagued by problems, including unsanitary conditions at the athletes villages, construction delays and worries about terrorism.
