In August 2005, we began working in partnership with Radio Nacional de Angola to produce public service announcements (PSAs) about HIV and AIDS in eight languages.

Advertisements in taxis, colour posters, banners and text messages were used to promote the campaign. (1 min 10 secs)

A busy square in Luanda. A blue and white taxi-minibus stops to let in various passengers. We see a wide pan of the square with lots of moving cars. Shot of people getting into the taxis.

In minibus (CONDUCTOR shouting and beckoning in street): Airport! São Paulo Airport! São Paulo! Let's go, let's go, only room for one more...

The camera is now inside the taxi, which stops and starts to join the flow of traffic. Inside, the passengers talk animatedly. A telephone rings inside the vehicle. It's the drivers'. He looks at the phone screen.

A close range shot shows the name JAIME. The driver suddenly brakes the taxi and the passengers fall silent. They look at each other intrigued and a bit perplexed.

DRIVER: Hello?...(laughs and smiles) Our guy is free! (turns to conductor) Listen conductor, today no one has to pay! Mano went to have an HIV test, and the result was negative!

CONDUCTOR: So that's why he's so happy!

PASSENGER: Even if the test was positive, he would be able to have a normal life. I'm here and I'm HIV positive, I take my medication for free and I'm fine.

DRIVER AND PASSENGERS: Against HIV and AIDS, we stand together!
