Reports
Distinguished politicians out of next parliament
18/03/2010 21:38:00

Baghdad (NINA) –The results announced by the Independent High Electoral Commission after counting 79% of votes all over Iraq showed that some distinguished politicians would not get enough votes to qualify among others to the upcoming parliament.

Nasir al-Jaderchi, al-Sharif Ali Bin al-Hussein, Muwafaq al-Rubayi as well as Ali Faisal al-Lami of the Iraqi National Alliance in Baghdad did not get enough votes to win a seat within next parliament.

As for the State of Law's Coalition in Baghdad, the numbers show that the former Speaker of the National Assembly Hachim al-Hasani, MP Abed Mutleg al-Jobouri, former Defense Minister Abdul Qadir al-Ubaidi, MP Mahdi al-Hafidh, MP Izzat al-Shahbander, Minister of Transportation Amir Abdul Jabbar, Minister of Human Rights Wijdan Michael as well as the minister of Displaced and Immigration Abdul Samad Sultan have won low votes that would not qualify them to be among next parliament members.

From the Iraqiya Slate, Adnan al-Bachachi and Fatah al-Sheikh have got very low votes that would leave out of the walls of the next Council.

The Alliance of the Iraq's Unity as a whole did not pass the required limit of votes that would qualify the entity to join the next parliament, when the minister of interior Jawad al-Bolani and the former Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani compete to win a single seat in Baghdad.

MPs Hameed Majeed Musa from the Iraqi Communist Party and MP Mithal al-Alousi of the Umma Iraqiya Slate have won good votes in Baghdad but their slates did not have enough votes to pass the required limits.

Among the politicians who would not be seen among the upcoming parliament members is the Secretary General of the Ahl al-Iraq Assembly Khalid al-Bura who won only 709 votes as well as the Head of Anbar Rescue Council Hameed al-Hayes and Khalaf al-Elayan of the National Unity Coalition in Anbar province due to the law votes they won in the last elections.

It is worth mentioning that many other distinguished politicians did not join the electoral race because they are leaders of parties such as the head of the Kurdistani Democratic Party Masoud Barzani, Jalal Talabani the Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ammar al-Hakim the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council and the former head of the Ahl al-Iraq Assembly Adnan al-Dulaimy. /End/
