TONIGHT AT 7:00 PM- THE CONCERT IS TAKING PLACE TONIGHT.  THE HUNGARIAN EMBASSY HAS GONE ALL OUT TO MAKE THIS A SPECIAL EVENT AND WE FEEL WE OWE IT TO MOST OF THE PUBLIC, THE ARTIST, WHO CANNOT RESCHEDULE, PLUS THE HUNGARIAN CHEF WHO HAS WORKED SO HARD.

THE CONSENSUS AMONG MOST PEOPLE IS TO GO AHEAD.  THE ROADS AROUND THE EMBASSY ARE CLEAR AND THERE SHOULD BE FAR LESS TRAFFIC.  WE WILL DO THE PROGRAM WITHOUT INTERMISSION AND SERVE DINNER ABOUT 8:15PM.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT.  AFTER ALL, WE ARE A "CAN DO" COUNTRY.  UPDATE: 12:48 PM.

In honor of the beginning of the Hungarian presidency of the European Union and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ferenc Liszt, we are proud to present this brilliant young artist. In 2002 Ádám György won the Vienna Classics Prize (Wiener-Klassik-Preis) with his outstanding interpretation of Haydn’s Sonata in G major (No. 54). In 2003 he won the Special Prize at the San Remo International Piano Competition, and in 2004 he won all prizes (First Prize, Grand Prize and Special Prize) at the First International Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest. That same year, CNN World Report identified him as a “rising star.” Program: Ádám György: Improvisations; Chopin: Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23; G. Verdi/F. Cellist NAREK HAKHNAZARYAN won First Prize in the 2008 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, bringing him two important debuts in the Young Concert Artists Series:in New York at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, sponsored by the Jerome L. Greene Foundation Prize, and at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater in Washington, DC. This season, Mr. Hakhnazaryan’s appearances include two performances in Boston’s Symphony Hall: with the Boston Pops in Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations with Maestro Erich Kunzel, and presented by Boston’s Celebrity Series, performing the Schumann Cello Concerto with conductor Hugh Wolff and the NEC Philharmonia. He will appear in the 5th Young Concert Artists Festival in Tokyo, gives recitals at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, for the Buffalo Chamber Music Society (NY), Ravinia’s Rising Stars Series (IL), the University of Florida, Vanguard Concerts (OH), Congregation Rodef Shalom in Pittsburgh (PA), the University of Georgia, Candlelight Concerts (MD), Missouri State University, and the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in Olympia. He will perform as concerto soloist with the Long Bay (CA) and Fort Smith (AR) Symphonies. Mr. Hakhnazaryan has appeared as soloist with the Westmoreland Symphony (PA), and in recitals at Saint Vincent College (PA), Lincoln County Concert Association (NC), Patrons for Young Artists (NY), The Paramount Theatre (VT), and The Colonial Theatre (MA). Program: Beethoven: Seven Variations on Theme from "The Magic Flute;," Brahms: Sonata No. 2 in F major; Rachmaninoff: Sonata in G minor.- $100/reception

Immediately following each concert, the educational and musical experience is accentuated by a reception.  At the reception, guests can enjoy ethnic cuisine as well as meet and interact with the concert's artists and diplomats from the host embassy.
