As part of a project we are undertaking in Luanda, the BBC World Service Trust launched a new programme, 100 Dúvidas (100 Doubts) in July 2009. The aim of the programme is to improve government accountability and give a voice to the citizens in this part of Angola.

Start date: January 2009

End date: January 2011

Media Types: Radio, website

Issue: Governance and Human Rights

Country: Angola

The objective of the programme is to promote debate, discussions and understanding between government authorities and citizens through the use of innovative and interactive weekly radio programmes on local station Radio Ecclesia.

100 Dúvidas is broadcast every Tuesday between 8-9am local time. A second programme, to be broadcast at the same time on Thursdays, is due to be launched shortly.

I really hope that this programme will be successful and that it will allow the governing bodies to get closer to the people, which is essential in our country.

The programme team

The production team, which was trained by BBC Brasil journalist Graciela Damiano and local trainer Andre Mussamo, ensures that both sides of the story are heard and that Luanda’s citizens are kept informed of their rights.

As well as listening to the programme on Radio Ecclesia, audiences can access 100 Dúvidas via a dedicated page on the Radio Ecclesia website.

Listeners can send in suggestions by email or via a special phone line.

Partners and donors

The programme is part of a partnership project between the BBC WST, Luanda local station Radio Ecclesia and the NGO Trocaire – the overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland.

The two-year project is being funded by the EU.
