Civilian Response Corps

“The Civilian Response Corps puts smart power into action every day. Your efforts help reduce conflict and prevent weak and failing states from becoming havens for terrorists. In just two years, your ranks have grown to over 1,000 civilian responders – you in effect have become an army of peacebuilders.” – Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton

The Civilian Response Corps is a group of civilian federal employees who are specially trained and equipped to deploy rapidly to provide reconstruction and stabilization assistance to countries in crisis or emerging from conflict. An innovative partnership, the Corps leverages the necessary range of expertise and experience from eight federal departments and agencies to accomplish the U.S. government’s various reconstruction and stabilization objectives.

The Corps is:

Whole of Government: Interagency Partnership

Because of the complexities involved in conflict prevention and response, no single government entity can offer all of the relevant expertise necessary to achieve our reconstruction and stabilization objectives. In order to adequately address these complexities and leverage all available resources of the U.S. government to our missions, the Civilian Response Corps is comprised of a partnership of eight departments and agencies from around the federal government. Members of the Corps from all agencies adhere to a single Code of Conduct.
