Local stations

A number of local stations in the region carry BBC World Service on FM in English, Arabic or a mix of English and Arabic.

BBC World Service in English can be heard 24 hours a day in Baghdad, Iraq, on 96.9 FM, in Basra on 88 FM, in Kuwait City on 100.1 FM and in Juba, southern Sudan, on 88.2 FM.

In Cyprus, 24 hours a day via the Multichoice Hellas cable network.

Satellite

Free-to-air from Eutelsat Hot Bird 8 at 13° East, Intelsat 10-02 at 1° West, Nilesat 102 at 7° West, Arabsat 3A, Orbit.

Worldspace digital receivers no longer operate with regard to BBC World Service from Sunday 31 January 2010.

In the eastern Mediterranean region, including parts of Cyprus and north-eastern Egypt, BBC World Service in English can be heard on MW frequency 1323 kHz, beamed from Cyprus between 0200 and 2300 GMT (currently off-air between 0730 and 0900 GMT on weekdays for transmitter maintenance work).
