Arab Regional Office
The Arab Regional Office supports groups that exchange information and analyses about media freedom and independence in the occupied Palestinian Territories. The office has provided funding to promote media creativity and reduce censorship, including several media outlets that have achieved significant operational and editorial independence by broadcasting over the Internet.
The office has also prioritized projects with the Iraqi refugee population in Amman, Jordan; pursued a partnership with the Open Society Foundations Media Program to develop Internet-based community radio in Egypt; and cooperated with the Open Society Foundations Youth Initiative and Early Childhood Program to organize youth debates and groups in Syria and Israel and library associations in Lebanon.
