In 2002, Güçeri formed the Blueprint Committee, which focused on the entire engineering curriculum. This committee was chaired by Eli Fromm, the founder of the original tDEC. They spent a year creating a blueprint for the mecessary changes. When the report was finished in 2003, Güçeri had it distributed to every single faculty member in the college.

"[Fromm] made a long presentation at one of our faculty meetings to present the case that tDEC was fine, but it no longer meets the need of our students," Güçeri said. "tDEC was stale and was in need of change. There were many problems coming out of tDEC that we didn't know how to cope with. That put our students at a disadvantage position relative to graduates from other universities. So something that was a big pride for Drexel actually turned out to be liability becaues it didn't change during those years."

Bruce Eisenstein, professor in electrical and computer engineering, what instructed to look at educational models at Purdue University and Tufts University to see how Drexel could learn from them.

"Every university is in search of what's that right model for engineering education," said Güçeri. "Frankly speaking, nobody knows what it is, even now. But people look into it, becaues it's all predictive. How can you predict how the job market will look in the year 2020? But we try our best; it's as simple as that."

"Based on the Blueprint Report and Dr. Eisenstein's report, over the last two years we've been making modifications and adjustments to the tDEC program," said Anthony Lowman, associate dean for undergraduate studies. "We're trying to come up with ways we can at least make this a successful program as long as we are still operating it."

"There are certain changes that do not require Senate approval or full-fledged elevation," Güçeri said. "It's like quick fixes here and there. Get better TA's, get better sessions, better this, better that. If we can change it, Dr. Lowman's group makes the change immediately and instantly."
