Learn about Podcasts

Podcasting is a way to receive audio files over the Internet by using feeds to deliver the audio broadcasts directly to your desktop. You can listen to the files on your computer or load them on your MP3 player and take them with you.

Subscribing to Hudson Podcasts

How you subscribe to a podcast will depend on the software you are using. One of the most popular software programs in use is iTunes.

You can subscribe to Hudson Podcasts in iTunes by choosing “Subscribe to Podcast...” from the Advanced menu. You will be prompted to enter a URL. This URL is available on the Customize Hudson Feeds page. Click the Get Podcast URL or Get Video Podcast URL button. iTunes will subscribe you to the podcast and begin downloading immediately.

RSS

What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for content distribution. The feed includes headlines, summaries and links back to Hudson.org for the full article.

Ways to access RSS

There are a number of ways to access RSS feeds. You can install a news reader that displays RSS feeds from the Web sites you select, enabling you to view hundreds of headlines at once. After installing the news reader, you can add each feed manually from the Web site by clicking on the "Subscribe" or the "RSS" orange button next to the feed.

An alternative to downloading a dedicated news reader is to use a Web-based news reader. For example, My Yahoo! users can now add RSS feeds directly to their personal page.
