Director of Finance, Economist Newspaper & Digital Editions, Americas

Summary of the Job
The Director of Finance for The Economist Newspaper & Digital Editions is responsible for driving new processes and change in the accounting, reporting and financial analysis of the Economist Newspaper business and digital editions in the Americas. The position will work closely with the senior business heads in the Americas (and globally) to lead the development of new business models, processes, controls and financial analysis which support the print circulation strategy, grow advertising revenue streams and help the business managers better understand the dynamics of the rapidly changing publishing market. The Director of Finance will form the primary Finance partner for the Newspaper Management team in the Americas.
Requirements:
Education and training
- Ideally
MBA in Accounting & Finance
- CPA - professionally
qualified accountant
Previous work experience
- At
least 8-10 years corporate experience ideally gained in a complex and fast-changing
multi-media environment or Consumer Financial Services business at a
senior finance level
- Must
have a successful track record of building and managing strong Finance
teams and working closely within business focused roles.
- Good
experience of dealing with and analyzing detailed and complex non-financial
data streams.
Knowledge
- Previous
experience gained within a subscription based or annual premium business
is very useful
- Experience
working across the globe and with diversified teams
- Strong
understanding of accounting principles and policies, especially around
revenue streams
- Interest
and understanding of the publishing industry is essential
IT Skills
- Knowledge
of PeopleSoft or another ERP package is essential
- Must
have recent and advanced Excel skills and strong PowerPoint skills

of driving change within the Finance function
- Takes
