Get the Look: Easy, Breezy Side Braids

Sunday April 17, 2011

Jessica Simpson braid hairstyle

Sure, braids have been floating around pop culture since Rapunzel let down her hair. Still, with warmer weather looming, I've been anticipating those super-fun up-dos that keep sweat at a minimum and still come off as super chic. That's where the braid comes in, and never has the plaited style been more on-trend. Long gone are the tight, Heidi-esque criss-cross braids of yore. These days, celebs are all about the loose, effortless-seeming low side braid. The best part: The ultra-feminine look is all to easy to re-create. For the how-to, and to see how A-listers fashion their plaits, take a peek at our gallery of the best in celeb-inspired braided hair.

Renee Zellweger red trench

It's the most classic of wardrobe staples: the belted trench coat. No matter the season, no matter the year, this quintessential outerwear is always appropriate. And while beige is the go-to trench color for most fashion fans, some are stepping it up with bright, showstopping hues. To wit: Renée Zellweger, who sported a fiery red Tommy Hilfiger trench in Italy last week. Yes, you'll love (and wear) your trench forever, but that doesn't mean you have to drop buckets of cash for one. We've rounded up more affordable red trenches so you can snag Zellweger's star style for much, much less.

Lily Allen’s Super-Cute Vintage–Inspired Fashion Line

Wednesday March 30, 2011
Lucy in Disguise

Looks like Lily Allen's hiatus from music just got extended. This week the British pop star, who last year announced a break from performing to open a vintage store with sister Sarah Owen, previewed looks from her first collection. Lucy in Disguise (the line shares a name with her London retail store) will spotlight Allen's love of all things vintage, with looks reminiscent of everything from flappers to '50s housewives. Of the 18 pieces, which will retail between $175-$630, Allen tells WWD she was inspired by a fictional character, "a time-traveling fashionista who's inviting you to explore her wardrobe....It's a great opportunity to play with the character."

Pink Hates New Haircut and Fans Who Also Hate Her New Haircut

Wednesday March 16, 2011

Pink New Butchered Haircut

Ha, I love Pink. The lady never minces words, having called out everyone from Christina Aguilera to Britney Spears (and that was just in the past two weeks). The singer's latest targets? Her hair stylist and (cheekily) her followers. After debuting a short, silvery pixie cut last week, the singer tweeted, "The woman that did my hair butchered it. I hate it. Thanks for pointing out how much you all hate it, too. Helpful." Aw, Pink, we always think you look cute!

Katherine Heigl Is the Latest Star to Chop Her Locks

Friday March 11, 2011

katherine heigl haircut

Hollywood hair just keeps getting shorter (and in some cases, blonder). Yesterday in LA, Katherine Heigl debuted a new 'do, trading in her signature long hair for a shaggy, pixie-like cut. She also upped the golden-hair ante, opting for a platinum color that rivals the shocking-white shades that Michelle Williams and Kate Winslet have been sporting with their similarly cropped cuts. What do you think? Is the actress pulling off the punk-inspired look?
