US student band to perform in Egypt
The student band from the Augustana College of Sioux Falls in South Dakota will be touring Egypt

The Augustana band

The Augustana College Band of Sioux Falls will be performing in Cairo, Tanta and Assyut from 13 to 28 January 2011.

The student band is made up of 70 musicians and is conducted by Dr. Bruce Ammann. They will be performing the “Triumphal March” from Verdi’s Aida, “Blue Bells of Scotland” by Pryor, “To Walk with Wings” by Giroux and “The Golden Age of the Xylophone” by Werle in their upcoming concerts.

The band has been on three international tours so far. In 1999 they toured for three weeks around Korea, Japan and China and In 2003 and 2007 they re-visited China and performed there.

 

Performances will take place on:

13 January at 7.30 pm Cairo University Great Hall (Cairo)

16 January at 7.30 pm Bibliotheca Alexandrina Great Hall (Alexandria)

18 January 7.30 pm Tanta University Concert Hall (Tanta)

22 January 2.30 pm Assiut University Concert Hall (Asyut)

28 January 7.30 pm Mubarak Complex Concert Hall (Cairo)
