    In an effort to avoid last year’s high record of delays and stalled debates, Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Tom Udall (D-NM) are expected to present their plan to restructure the filibuster rules on the first day of the new Senate session tomorrow.

    In separate statements,  the two senators have spoken on the minority party’s perceived misuse of the filibuster, which is defined as any attempt to block or delay action on a matter. They are seeking to limit the cases that a filibuster can be used and how it may be executed. More »

    Gov.  Rick Scott (R) has been sworn in as Florida’s 45th Governor. State dignitaries attending  the ceremony included former Governor Jeb Bush and former Senators Mel Martinez (R) and George LeMieux (R). The new governor also delivered an inaugural address from the Old Capitol in Tallahassee.
