Date: October 3, 2006

John Bowman, ANR Principal Development Specialist and COP of the RAISE SPS Project, travelled to the University of Wisconsin - Madison during September 18-20 and gave an invited lecture on "Career Opportunities in International Agriculture." John was invited by the Department of Plant Pathology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) where he received his M.S. in 1980. John also received an M.A. at UW - Madison in Latin American Studies (1978). The lecture focused on a wide range of employment opportunities for young professionals, including work with multinational food companies and international agricultural research centers, but focused on opportunities with USAID, both as a "new entry professional" and as a USAID contractor. John presented over 200 slides from his 25+ years of travel experience with international agriculture projects. After the lecture, John met with CALS students, faculty and staff - including the CALS Dean of International Programs.
