OIL FUTURES: Crude Extends Losses As Market Awaits EIA Data Last Update: 1/4/2011 8:51:00 PM Crude-oil futures slipped in Asia Wednesday, extending a 2.4% overnight decline. The market was relatively sluggish, as traders avoided moving large positions before the release of U.S. oil inventory data due at 1530 GMT from the Energy Information Administration. On the New York Mercantile Exchange, light, sweet crude futures for delivery in February traded at $89.20 a barrel at 0650 GMT, down 18 cents in the Globex electronic session.
Macarthur Coal sees profit at low end of range Last Update: 1/4/2011 3:09:23 PM SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Macarthur Coal Ltd. said Wednesday that its first-half net profit is now expected at the lower end of a 97 million to 102 million Australian dollar ($97.5 million to $102.6 million) guidance range it issued Dec. 16. The firm, which mines for coal in Queensland, said that record rainfall at its Coppabella and Moorvale mines in December has continued to hamper coal mining and production.
