Ekram Ibrahim, Wednesday 5 Jan 2011
Two demonstrations have been scheduled against the detention of eight members of the 6th of April movement. The activists were arrested for protesting in Shubra against the New Year's eve attack on the Two Saints Church in Alexandria.
One demonstration is currently taking place in front of the Supreme Constitutional Court, while the other has been called for 9am tomorrow morning in downtown Cairo.
The activists are to stand trial tomorrow.
This is the first time in recall that a trail has been scheduled within two days of arrest.
The defendants are accused of inciting riots, assaulting security personnel and damaging public property.
