Civil Liberties
OSI-Washington seeks to counter the U.S. government’s efforts to limit civil liberties by building coalitions with other advocacy groups and NGOs that are working to safeguard hard-won civil rights in American society.

Criminal Justice Reform
OSI-Washington, D.C. advocates criminal justice reform in the United States to create a fairer, more equitable justice system for all Americans.

D.C. Community Grants Initiative
The DC Community Grants Initiative annually awards one-year grants to community-based organizations that engage in youth leadership and development and/or provide services for low-income families.

Eastern Europe/Former Soviet Union Project
The project serves as a resource for government agencies, multilateral institutions, and NGOs interested in the region.

Women's Rights
OSI-Washington supported efforts to increase awareness of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and to create a political and social climate in which the United States will eventually ratify it.
