Fellowships which do not Require Nomination

Applicants should pay careful attention to the details of the following scholarship opportunities some require nomination from departments or offices other than that of the Office of the Fellowship Secretary.

  • The Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program
    Begun in 1984, the Bosch Fellowship Program chooses 15-20 Fellows each year to study and work in Germany.
  • Gates Cambridge Scholarships
    The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship established by the Gates Cambridge Trust in order to give students from around the world the opportunity to study at Cambridge
  • Carnegie Junior Fellows Program
    The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a private, nonprofit organization that focuses on international public policy and the forces that drive global change and offers fellowships to work as a research assistant at the Endowment. 
  • Chinese Government Scholarship
    Chinese Embassy is offering one grant, the Chinese Government Scholarship, to Georgetown students, faculty or staff for studying in China. The scholarship is a full scholarship, which will cover tuition, accommodation, living stipend, health insurance, and one round-trip international airfare. 

  • Goldwater Program 
    Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program awards scholarships to sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering.

  • Herbert Scofield Jr. Peace Fellowship. A competitive national fellowship that provides college graduates with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Supported by a stipend, the Fellows serve as full-time junior staff members at the participating organization of their choice.

  • Institute for International Public Policy (IIPP) Fellowship   The program is part of the UNCF Special Programs Corporation. The Institute seeks to enhance U.S. national security and global competitiveness by promoting excellence, international service, and awareness among a representative cross-section of the American citizenry.
  • James Madison Fellowships
    The Madison Foundation seeks to support applicants pursuing advanced degrees relevant to the teaching of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary level.

  • National Science Foundation Graduate Research Grant As the oldest graduate fellowship of its kind, this program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in the United States and abroad.
  • NIH-Cambridge Scholars Program
    The National Institutes of Health-University of Cambridge Health Science interdisciplinary program offers students the opportunity to receive training in biomedical or clinical research in pursuit of a Doctor of Philosphy degree from the Univeristy of Cambridge. 

  • NIH-Oxford Scholars Program
    The National Institutes of Health-University of Oxford Scholars in Biomedical Sciences interdisciplinary program offers students the opportunity to receive training in biomedical research in pursuit of a Doctor of Philosphy degree from the Univeristy of Oxford. 
  • NSEP David L. Boren Graduate Fellowship
    The National Security Education Program David L. Boren Graduate Fellowships supports students pursuing graduate study who are interested in international relations as well as future careers in  goverment service.  
  • NSEP David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarship Program
    The National Security Education Program David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships offer study abroad opportunities to undergraduate students who are committed to pursue a career in U.S.
  • Soros for New Americans
    The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans seeks to assist new Americans in pursuing their career goals through graduate study at any accredited U.S. institution. 
  • Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Fellowship Program
    The Program seeks to fund graduate students who are enrolled in a number of different Master's programs and who plan to pursue a foreign service career with the U.S. Department of State.  
  • Thomas R. Pickering Undergraduate Fellowship Program
    The Program seeks to fund undergraduate students who are sophomores and who plan to pursue a foreign service career with the U.S. Department of State.
