A Light in Dark Places

Monday December 27, 2010

If you've felt flat this holiday time, or like you're going through the motions...maybe it's revealing a false bottom. The aspects this week, including today's Sun-Pluto conjunction can bring a nagging sense that "there's something more." It's a longing to be aligned with the truest inner reality. So paradoxically, that longing for more, can lead to less....a stripping away of what's dead or dying.

So today's Sun-Pluto explosion from within -- and all the other growth-provoking aspects this week, can assist in the descent period of the lunar cycle. We might not get what we want, but we get what we need. It's the waning Moon, a time of letting go until January 4th. It often begins with the stripping away of what feels false, empty, and keeps us from acting from the core.

It's a rich, mysterious time, summed up so well by Fiona Kelly of Living with Astraea. She writes, "Even though this happens once a year, with all that December has unlocked already, today's conjunction still reminds me of that powerful line from Galadriel in Tolkien: "May it be a light for you in dark places, When all other lights go out..."

Fiona continues, "It is a beautiful sentiment really. The courage to shine a light into your fears and see beyond the veil once a year. How appropriate too that it comes during the return of the light force at Solstice."

There can be such fear in letting go of the familiar. Who am I if I'm not friends with so and so? Or, what would life look like if I had the courage to fully explore my talents? This time of year, we look at how life could change from the inside out, altering those outer labels and associations.

These major player aspects this week give us the backbone we need to do what must be done. And to face any uncertainty -- often experienced as darkness -- that comes from making these changes. It's having faith that the light is there, even when it doesn't seem like it.

Wishing You Peace and Joy

Wednesday December 22, 2010

I'll be taking some time to be with family and refill the well. If you've been stirred up by the eclipse, the waning Moon 'til the solar eclipse January 4th is a good time for release. You can thank these bits and pieces for the memories, and let them go. Taking time away from your usual routine can show you how much you're carrying (responsibilities, fear, anxieties, worries). It can bring deep relief to lay them down, to celebrate the holidays.

May you experience the extraordinary this holiday, and be renewed. Moments of magic and enchantment. May your Christmas, Yule or Hanukkah be merry and bright. Many blessings to you all!

Did You See It?!

Tuesday December 21, 2010

Did you see it? I woke up from deep sleep at around 2:30, and went out with my man who was wide awake and filming it. He's a night owl. A cool, cloudless night with the Moon almost directly above us. What a magnificent sight!

What's going on for you? For me, the eclipse, at 29 Gemini, is a 4th House (home, emotional roots) affair, and both husband and I are Gemini Moons. On top of that our Moons square the generational Pluto-Uranus conjunction in Virgo. So whatever stirs up the Gemini jitters threatens to open up Pandora's Box of intensity. So much so, that after looking at the chart in an eclipse reading, Robert Phoenix suggested an eclipse pre-nup.

Keeping that in mind helped, when I started to feel that inner revving up that's so familiar. The big crisis was toxic smoke from the wood stove, getting smoked out and having to evacuate temporarily. Gemini rules lungs and breath, and the nervous system. I had to call on Wonder Twin powers to find something funny in it all, and not get caught in a super high velocity loop of negative thoughts. And not let the evil twin spoil my eclipse night.

One of my stand-by tricks worked -- a long shower, and writing my wishes in the steam. This eclipse, in signs of messages across worlds, is in play for as long as six months. And the next eclipse is January 4th at 13 Capricorn. So being able to adapt, and expand your perception sets you up to making the most of your inner and outer resources, alliances, and strength to persevere in the year ahead. The first step, and one that happens for many all day long, is redirecting negative thoughts.

This mental flexibility helps you reframe a situation that seems stuck. Mercury in retrograde until December 30th, assists in this connecting dots in a fresh way. It can cause you to see the landscape differently, so your plans change. This adaptability can bring faith in your ability to go with the extreme changes that are happening for so many.

2010 Eclipse Bigger than 2012?

Monday December 20, 2010

Nothing on December 21st, 2012 is as astronomically or astrologically significant as tomorrow's eclipse, says Vedic astrologer Sam Geppi. In his video presentation on the eclipse, he stresses the rarity of the Full Moon Eclipse happening at Winter Solstice, with the luminaries lining up to the Galactic Plane.

There's historic precedence for catastrophe and chaos with what's lining up, says Geppi. He explains that the "two Brahmins" Jupiter and Venus, however, elevate the atmosphere, for one of wisdom, growth, teaching, intelligence. There's a lot going on, with higher forces in play. "To be established in the midst of chaos is enlightenment," he says. A very informative video!
