How Do You Find a Cheap Hotel in Vegas?

Cheap is a relative term in Las Vegas, don't be afraid to go cheap on your Las Vegas vacation. Do you really need all that fancy stuff if you are just sleeping in your room? Who needs soft sheets? Bath robes are overrated? Drop your stuff and go!

Stop The Fancy, Get Practical

The Guys Are Heading to Vegas, You Coming?

Tuesday April 19, 2011

Aria Pool

So you get the call, "We're going to Vegas!"

You Respond, "Vegas, Baby!"

Well, you know how that story goes, you pile in for the road trip, you kidnap one friend who has the overbearing spouse, he loses a tooth, your other buddy goes missing and soon there's a naked guy in your trunk, your walking around the strip in dirty clothing and you realize that Mike Tyson probably does have a Tiger that you can borrow. Of course, what goes without saying is that each of you will have to empty your pockets and throw away all the receipts, you'll have to burn your clothing to dismiss any chance of evidence ever showing up and someone will have to tip the three girls who wake up in the bathtub. Also, that buddy of yours who slept the entire weekend at the pool can't wear clothing now because his skin is about as crispy as day old bacon. He's going home naked.

The real question should be, "How many guys are ready to go back to Vegas?"

If the guys decide to go to Vegas this is what you should do:

  • Grab a room at Aria Resort, It's new, it's modern and everything you need in one place.
  • Hit the pool, Aria Pool is huge and there are plenty of chairs for you and the boys to sprawl out. If you want the adult pool experience you can opt for Liquid Pool, it'll cost you, but the crowd is very ready to break out in a huge party.
  • You'll need to eat so consider, American Fish for a comfortable meal that screams open fire and male bonding or go the typical male route and devour some beef at Jean Georges Steakhouse. Multi-task at lunch by catching some games and an incredible Rib-Eye burger at Skybox Bar and Grill.
  • You'll be drinking at the View Bar, Bar Moderno and The Deuce lounge but attempt the Dammi un Bacon at Sirio or pound a pint in seven seconds at Todd English P.U.B. A can't miss is the foray into the world of Absinthe at Sage where as was told to me, you'll "want to rub the curtains behind you" as you legally free base Absinthe.
  • You'll venture into the evening with drinks and mingling at Gold Lounge and then hit Haze Nightclub. Simply put, you won't have the energy to continue but peer pressure is a good thing in Las Vegas.

Remember, you're in Vegas so make sure to find a seat in the poker room and play a few hands while you and the guys bond over good old fashioned story telling.

Last thing, don't let that guy you know who seems to tell his wife everything come along for the trip. I never enjoy having to explain why 3 girls slept in the tub and I'm pretty sure you won't either.

Affordable Las Vegas: This Week's Travel Deals and Pizza, Burgers and Sandwiches

Monday April 18, 2011

Affordable Las Vegas is simply a way of a saying you can enjoy something in Las Vegas without worrying too much about overpaying or having to budget it into your vacation plans.

pizza

I wasn't going to talk about food this week and then I had this pizza twice in a 24 hour period and I had to make sure that you know that for $14 this is the best pizza you can find on the Las Vegas strip. I love that it comes out almost immediately after you order it. The cooking process takes about 60 seconds with a wood burning oven that would make Dante sweat. The char is just right, the sweet sauce, the cheese and the slight crunch. Oh, I might have to go back and have another. The Pizza at D.O.C.G. is simply one of those things that I'm infatuated with like that tall cheerleader in high school who made me feel a little ... you get the point.

So find the best pizza in Las Vegas and while you are at it, treat yourself to a good burger and then race over and have a decent sandwich. You see i could think about getting some exercise but i think I'm better off walking quickly toward my next meal. I'll count that as exercise, work and I'm saving money the entire time.

Do you need more cheap alternatives in Las Vegas? Visit the Cheap in Las Vegas page and you'll have plenty of reasons to go cheap.

Last week's affordable Las Vegas tip:

I know you might think that you can get by on a liquid diet when you are in Las Vegas but the truth is that that will most likely only lead to bad decisions and plenty of time in the fetal position. Instead, load up on some cheap food and keep your stomach filled so that all that alcohol can be absorbed and you can enjoy a little more time at the pools, the tables and in the nightclubs of Las Vegas. If you need a food court, a quick sit down spot or just some late night eats we have a growing list of cheap alternatives when it comes to food in Las Vegas. If you need cheap food in Las Vegas, we have found the best spots.

There are few places in the world where you can get the very best in luxury accommodations, dining, entertainment and attractions in one place for a reasonable price. If you add in the pool scene and the extraordinary night life it's tough to beat Las Vegas as a destination that tempts you to get away. What you need to do is find the best price to get to Las Vegas and that is where I come in.

Hotel Promotions are sent to me on a daily basis, I come across attractive package deals and coupons make their way to my in-box so I have collected them in one location in order to help you find the best travel deals to Las Vegas.

The Bachelor Party in Las Vegas: Who Is In Charge?

Saturday April 16, 2011

Pool Table Cosmo

Before I get into any direction on what you should be planning for the bachelor party in Las Vegas, let me make one thing clear, you DO NOT invite the brother-in-law, it's a known fact that he will screw everything up and pretty much blow the entire weekend. It's well documented, Hollywood made a movie about that. Listen, you don't want your buddy who is about to be married to be worried about some blabber mouth who will eventually try to sleep on his couch because he has some hidden secrets that he holds in his blackmail folder. There I said it, yes I have a brother-in-law and yes he often sleeps on my couch because he claims some girl named Candi might have made off with my wallet at a Las Vegas strip club...that's another story.

Planning for the Las Vegas bachelor party is a huge responsibility, you and the boys do not want to walk through a casino filled with kids after an afternoon of sports books and poker tables. So you'll need a good hotel for your base of operations. I have a list of bachelor party hotels in Las Vegas but I 'll add a few more right here just to give you an idea of what you are looking for. A few suggestions:

  • Palms Place - Spacious, a a great party vibe at the Palms but a bit more upscale at Palms Place.
  • Cosmopolitan Las Vegas - Large rooms, plenty of bars, killer pool and the space you need to set up the ultimate bachelor party.
  • Encore - The upscale approach to a bachelor party, if you are really "that" guy.
  • Tropicana Hotel - Cost cutting approach to a bachelor party with a good pool, perfect location and a lot less out of pocket expense.

You'll also need some guidance with a few other things, check out the bachelor party guide and try to keep it safe but on the edge. You'll hit a few strip clubs in Las Vegas but keep an eye on all your buddies, DO NOT let them spend too much on girls that will never leave with them. You want to make sure that they have money to buy a few rounds of drinks by the pool.

What else you might need for the perfect Las Vegas bachelor party?

Nightclubs - You'll probably be looking for a place to hit on girls that are not your girlfriends and wives.
Cheap food - You'll probably spend too much on alcohol and need some cheap food
Pool - You'll need a place to crash during the day. Sleeping in the room is not cool, sleeping at the pool makes the party even better

You should be set, this should help you with the foundation for a great Las Vegas bachelor party, it's up to you to send that groom into the world knowing full well what he is giving up by saying "I do".

Good luck!

Foodie Friday Las Vegas - Dos Caminos at Palazzzo

Friday April 15, 2011

The art of eating, we all need to do it but some of us love it more than others. On any given day I can be indulging in the fanciest of fine dining or sitting on a curb eating from a roadside vendor. Food is far more than sustenance, it's an experience, a journey and very often a memorable event. I'm not sure that makes me a foodie, but it does inspire me to share my finds with you.

Do you have a great food picture? Share it with us so that our readers can see what you are eating in Las Vegas. Share a picture Las Vegas food Picture

Dos caminos

This Week's Foodie Friday Pick

Chips, guacamole and tequila, is there a need for anything else? Maybe I'll toss in a Mexican beer and a ceviche taco but the truth is if I stop into Dos Caminos I can easily have a very long lunch slowly allowing my brain to go numb with the pleasure of Blue Agave and avocados. You can head in for dinner and have the same thing but I really enjoy an afternoon meal for my foray into the world of Guacamole, I love the way the citrus and the chile and the tomatoes slowly wrap themselves up in the avocado and then cling to the chip just as they enter my mouth. I love the way the sweetness of the Tequila is then sparked to life by just a tiny bit of burnt oak and then a hint of peppermint. Come to think of it, I probably should be eating more than chips and salsa but I always load up the free stuff while my liquid diet takes over. Be responsible, order an entree to go with your guacamole and tequila at Dos Caminos

Last Week's Foodie Friday Pick

Breakfast in Las Vegas is that one meal that I have a tendency to skip. Maybe it's my addiction to early morning workouts where I'd rather get in an 18 mile run instead of adding calories to my temple of a body. (I thought I would add that in since it is April 1st, the truth is I am usually out very late, drinking, eating and doing naughty things) However, one of the places you need to consider when in Las Vegas for breakfast is Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas. Quality eats, a great patio to observe the early risers and an omelet that will excite you for the rest of the day.
