While adding free Internet games to your blog, website or social networking profile is a great way to increase traffic, webmasters must be careful in choosing their content.

Google Buzz Costs Company $8.5 Million in Class Action Lawsuit

Wednesday November 3, 2010

Resolving litigation regarding privacy concerns, Google has agreed to pay $8.5 million in a class action lawsuit after the company connected Gmail users to its Google Buzz social network without notice.

Litigants said Gmail users were set to auto-follow any other Gmail user they email or sent Gtalk IMs to on the Google Buzz network.  Google Buzz allowed users to set status messages and keep in contact with multiple friends at once in a social network setting.

The $8.5 million "Common Fund" will benefit "organizations focused on Internet privacy policy or privacy education," according to Forbes, less up to 30 percent in legal fees charged by the class lawyers.

Facebook, Foursquare Advocate Participation on Election Day

Tuesday November 2, 2010

While much of the U.S. is abuzz about today's 2010 midterm elections, Facebook and Foursquare are two social networks advocating voter participation today ahead of tonight's results.

On Facebook, users are invited today to search for their polling place using Facebook's Polling Place Locator.  Upon voting, users can add their very own voter badge from the News Feed, as illustrated below:

On Foursquare today, users can unlock a special 'I Voted' badge when you check-in at a polling location.

Badges and social networks aside, I hope you will get out, do your civic duty and vote.
