This creative video celebrating salamander metamorphosis was too bizarre not to share. I've blogged about axolotls here before because these salamanders are definitely one of nature's stranger animals. The lyrics to the song in the video are actually pretty biologically accurate too, minus that part about the axolotl drinking a bottle of "salamader goo" to trigger metamorphosis.

On January 2nd, a cow gave birth to a calf with two heads in the eastern European country Georgia. Apparently, the calf's mother has refused to let it nurse, which is not an uncommon response when an animal senses its offspring has something seriously wrong with it. Despite that, the calf has been feeding from a bottle with both of its heads. Unfortunately, chances of its survival to adulthood are not good, but possible with lots of human care.

A man shot a strange animal in Kentucky recently, sparking rumors that a real life chupacabra had finally been brought to science. To the dismay of cryptozoologists everywhere, testing has finally revealed the creature to be something equally odd, but not quite a chupacabra.
Turns out, the naked, gray-skinned animal was just a raccoon with a disorder that caused it to lack hair. For some as-yet-unknown reason, such hairless animals are apparently being reported more frequently than ever before in Kentucky.
Admittedly, the poor raccoon was bizarre-looking and I can see why someone would think it was something supernatural or a species unkown to science. Watch this video to learn more.
