Dan Tepfer Trio - 'Five Pedals Deep'

Dan Tepfer Trio Five Pedals Deep

Dan Tepfer's Five Pedals Deep is permeated by a contemplative, pensive mood. The trio, without much surface grandeur, sustains long-arching growth, at the root of which often lies simple and repeated melodies.

Search And Restore In Final Stretch of Fundraiser

Wednesday December 1, 2010

Search and Restore, the nonprofit group devoted to the support of new jazz music, is edging closer to its goal of raising $75,000 through a Kickstarter campaign that seeks to document the New York jazz scene with a new high-tech and video-oriented website. In order to be funded, the goal must be met by December 6th.

On Monday, November 29th, Search and Restore held a fundraiser concert at (Le) Poisson Rouge in the West Village. The show featured 20 artists who figure prominently in Search and Restore programs, and they engaged in a night of continuous music through rotating improvised duets. Jim Macnie wrote about the top five moments of the concert on his blog.

The concert pushed the project past the $44,000 mark with only a few days left to meet its $75,000 goal.

NYC Winter JazzFest 2011 Lineup Announced

Friday November 26, 2010

The cold weather doldrums are soon to set in, and that means that it's almost time for the annual NYC Winter JazzFest, i.e, the one thing that can really help stave off the cold weather doldrums. On January 7th and 8th, the whirlwind festival will showcase over 60 performances as part of the the Association of Performing Arts Presenters conference.

The lineup of this year's festival has recently been announced, and the list represents the increasingly diverse New York City jazz scene. Each band gets a 45-minute slot in one of five venues in Manhattan's West Village. Tickets are $25 for an all-access pass for one night, or $35 for a two-night pass.
