Republicans may have two prime pickup opportunities in the 2012 struggle for control of the Senate after North Dakota Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad announced Tuesday he will not seek re-election and Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, a Connecticut Democrat-turned-independent who still caucuses with his old party, scheduled a Wednesday press conference in Stamford, Conn., on his future.
