What a ludicrous article! Going by your rationale, nobody, any where in the world, should be allowed to hoist their national flag, for fear of hurting someone else's sentiments!!

Sing another song, TE!

@ Varun GuptaIndia:

Spot on! Excellent response. Sock it to 'em ranting bigots & raving India-bashers! Let the truth be known. (Not that these blind bigots will ever see the light!)

El Toro Es Guapa:

Kashmir is an integral part of India & the UN has no bloody right to even consider a plebicite there. But based on your line of thinking, Alaska belongs to Russia & Texas, Arizona, Nevada & California should all be returned to Mexico. Similarly the Bathists deserve Spain to be split up & Northern Iraq/Kurdistan belongs to the Kurds... All these others, are far more deserving of UN intervention, than Kashmir.

Take those blinkers off, dude.

Salvation for the multinational tortoises, lies in their moving eastwards as quick as their ponderous legs can take 'em & before the tiger cubs grow up & gobble them all up!

Lush, verdant pastures are almost exclusively, in the East, as the desertification of the West continues inexorably..

This misplaced outrage to Amy Chau's "Tiger Mom" (tuff love) exhortations, is typical 'knee-jerk' over-reaction, to the sting of home truths, where it hurts most.

Kids in the decadent West are, sadly, more than likely to be narcissistic, mollycoddled, cocky, kno-it-all spoilt rotten brats, than their eastern/oriental counterparts, whose parents demand excellance before praise or acknowledgement is dished out.

Here in the West, kids are shielded from the harsh realities & lulled into a delusional utopia by their doting, ever-praising & overprotective parents & grow up unable to face the truth or failure because of their ivory tower lifestyle.

Amy Chau maybe at the other end of the parenting spectrum, but never the less a better, more productive & successful one than what most American parents adopt - generally speaking.

And of course there's always that happy median, in between..

True knowledge is knowing that you know nothing.

Without humility, the intellect slips into catatonic dormancy. Regretably, pride & hubris have become laudable virtues, here in the West.

End result: cereberal palsy!

Spot on! That's precisely the difference between the emerging East & the regressing West: Management walks the talk in the pragmatic East, as opposed to just talk the talk, as in the pretentious & greed-obsessed West.

Time for a 'managed' reality check, guys.

Jan 23rd 2011 5:27 GMT

Stinks of rank 'conspiracy' to me!!

What will 'em vile & psycopathic Cartels construe to hike up next, in their heinous & insatiable quest for world domination & subjugation of the poor working masses??

Hope they all ROT IN HELL, FOR ETERNITY!!

So all Yee 'Church-detractors' take particular note! The Church does a lotta good too, unlike what most of Yee disclaim - especially in the poor, developing nations.

Maybe in the decadent West the Church has also dissipated into decadence & serves little of moral or spiritual value, any more. It's morphed into just another self-serving business entity; a real estate conglomerate. Nevertheless, credit must be given, where it's due.

My own gut feeling is that any immediate EU bailout fund, less than $3 or even 4 trillion, will prove to be ineffectual & only add to the entrenched financial woes of the euro zone. And down the road, the bailout will probably exceed 5 or 6 trillion, before any long-term recovery, becomes even remotely feasible.

Europe as a whole, not just the euro zone, is drowning in a massive tidal wave of self-destructive denial & delusions of grandeur. Wake up Folks, before the sky comes crashing down & the ground below your feet, caves in irrevocably.

Armegeddon looms mennacingly, over western skies..

Jan 23rd 2011 2:31 GMT

Apparently the wisdom of the East, returned unappreciated with the Three Wise Men & the only one who learnt from them, was infant Jesus!

Oh Decadent West! When will you reject your arrogant pride & embrace humility??

@ ronewolf & kmrbl:

Typical OVERreaction!

If men were half as sensitive or reactive as females are, then there would be bedlam everyday & everything would come to a grinding halt! Women are for ever stereotyping male behaviour & getting away with it, all the time.

Give the man a break, for crying out hoarse!

@ Nyaya:

You echo my gut feeling & sentiments too.

The hapless, discarded & mostly ignored poor, matter only at election time. Dirty politics prevails unabated..

Ensure your next Prez has a Master's in an engineering or scientific discipline & hopefully you will see a boost in education standards in your country.

The only stumbling block is that straight-shooting engineering & science don't naturally gell with (dirty/devious/manipulative) politics. They are worlds apart & rarely the twain shall meet.

Still, the survival of the crumbling American edifice, begs drastic measures. Better education is the key..

The age-old 'carrot & stick' ploy continues to work successfully, to the exclusive advantage of the rich & the powerful. The hardworking, albeit delusional masses, remain in abject denial about their sorry plight, while obsessing about making it rich, someday.

Narcissistic pride & infantile hubris, inculcated in them over decades, by vested interest lobbies, work against their better judgement & blinds them to their pathetic serfdom.

Meanwhile, the filthy rich are laughing all the way to the bank & beyond..

Jan 22nd 2011 2:36 GMT

Spin doctors & spiel masters are anathema for the good of a nation & people like Coulson should be declared persona non grata, in the corridors of power, if Britain is to survive this mortal recession.

Lies, phoniness & falsities galore: all in the unholy name of political correctness, politeness & diplomacy. What a fake, superficial & pretentious world we live in, nowadays!

Jan 21st 2011 8:28 GMT

Commonsense dictates that decadent, mollycoddled, narcissistic, self-absorbed & entitlement-obsessed western spoilt brats are no comparison to their book-wormish, learning-obsessed Chinese/Asian counterparts, when it comes to acadamic excellance. Anyone who denies this lives in catatonic denial!

Just look at the demographics of American University students today. The majority of the science/maths, engineering/computer & medical students are of Chinese/Asian ethnicity. Credit for this goes to the "tiger moms" without a doubt.

However, western/Caucasian kids are markedly more 'socially' comfortable, exuding more confidence & better communication skills than their oriental counterparts. Credit for this also undoubtedly goes to the far more lax, constantly praising, esteem-building, albeit, mollycoddling western moms.

Each has its pros & cons. The smart parents take advantage of both schools of thought, bringing up their kids with intelligent & pragmatic doses of strictness & pampering. Finding the right mix will ensure unmitigated success & boundless joy in parenting.

Making Brian Cowan the scapegoat for Ireland's economic woes & freeing Fanny Fail from taking the far more deserving blame, is like putting the cart before the horse. It serves no useful purpose what so ever, other than perpetrating the entrenched nationwide denial-mode, even deeper.

The sooner the nation realises that Cowan is just a 'fall guy', the sooner they can hope to address the malaise stalking the country for decades. Passing the buck, won't cut it, any longer..

If the oil prices keep on soaring this way, OPEC will have the rare distinction of destroying world economies, once & for all. But that's tantamount to cutting the branch they stand on!

OPEC, don't allow insatiable GREED to blind you to the longterm realities. Hopefully commonsense & pragmatism will prevail, before things get completely outta hand..

Jan 21st 2011 3:36 GMT

The Senator who petulantly quipped: “BP once stood for British Petroleum…it now stands for Bolshoi Petroleum” is so off target, it makes my head spin! More like BP stands for "Bush-chenay Petroleum" - at least untill the recent splitting-of-ways, after the GOM spill!

It never ceases to amaze me to see the over-reactive petulance & vindictive smarting egoes of vested interest lobbies, as they unleash their self-serving venom, the minute things don't go their selfish way.

How patheticaly juvenile & nauseatingly narcissistic..
