Angry Birds and 'Rio' Join Forces for the Ultimate Avian Crossover
January 28, 2011
by Ethan Anderton
We've heard about the possibility of the popular mobile game heading to the big screen, but now the furious fowls from Angry Birds are teaming up with some the cute characters from Blue Sky Studio's animated feature Rio for one cool crossover promotion. Today 20th Century Fox and Rovio Mobile announced a partnership to tie-in with the popular game with the story of Rio. If you've missed the trailer or the musical two minutes that just showed up online earlier, this crossover is just perfect, because the film follows a group of kidnapped birds who join together in an attempt to escape and stop their captors once and for all.
Here's the official trailer for the forthcoming Angry Birds and Rio crossover game:
Angry Birds Rio will feature 45 all new levels that will not only feature your favorite projectile birds, but also characters from the animated film which hits theaters on April 15th, 2011. However, the crossover game will launch sometime in March in app stores worldwide to make gamers and movie-lovers well aware of the film's release. The real question is whether the traditional villainous green pigs will be causing trouble or if the villains in Rio will need to have their strongholds destroyed by the various projective birds. Surely, I'll be making this purchase from the app store and seeing Rio in a couple months. How about you?
