83 complete a ‘really wonderful’ course
Journalists who followed the iLearn course on reporting the environment found it ‘stimulating’, ‘exciting’, ‘motivating’ and ‘rewarding’. 83 reporters passed the course, the final part of the 18-month Focus training programme. [more]

Competition winners celebrate success
A TV documentary team from Dehradun and a newspaper journalist from Pune have received prizes for their outstanding features on environmental issues, prepared as part of the Focus project. [more]

Focus films get a national airing
India’s national broadcaster Doordarshan has broadcast a series of films about pressing environmental issues. Each was made by journalists taking part in the Focus on the Environment training programme. [more]

Online learning goes live
Journalists who’ve taken part in the Focus workshops now have the opportunity to continue their learning online. Two new courses have been especially designed: one for newspaper journalists, the other for their colleagues in TV. [more]

'Critical Chaos', a film about urbanisation made by participants in the focus workshop in Pune, has won a film festival award. [more]

Next round of training scheduled
The 'Focus on the Environment' roadshow has already visited Delhi, Dehradun, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Lucknow. Now the next round of training is being organised - for West Bengal, Andra Pradesh and Kerala. [more]

Training completed in six states
The project has now trained 72 TV and print journalists in environmental journalism skills and 67 NGO staff in working with the media. [more]

A state-of-the-art digital editing suite has been installed at TERI’s headquarters in Delhi with a view to assisting with the production of environmental documentaries both during and after the project. [more]
